Select the right domain computer before support begins
LanRemoteAssist combines an authorized Active Directory computer browser with exact-target remote support, helping internal IT teams find a Windows computer and continue with the correct identity and protocol.
Current or one-time account
Exact DNS target
Filtered and virtualized results
Purpose-built for authorized internal support
Every connection begins with a named target, an approved identity and a protocol choice that matches the Windows environment.
Browse computer objects you are allowed to read
Use the current Windows identity by default or provide one-time directory credentials. Results can include computer name, DNS host name, domain, organizational unit, operating system and enabled state.
Designed for large directories
Directory loading runs asynchronously, supports cancellation and uses filtering and virtualization so large result sets do not block the Console interface.
Directory selection is not network scanning
The browser reads documented directory objects available to the authorized account. Selecting a computer fills the exact target used by the connection workflow.
Active Directory remote support FAQ
What permissions are needed to browse computers?
The account needs only the directory read permissions required to view the computer objects returned by Active Directory.
Can I search by computer name?
Yes. The directory page supports computer-name filtering and organizational-unit context when the directory permits it.
Does browsing Active Directory install an Agent?
No. Directory browsing only selects the target. Agent deployment is a separate, explicit administrator-confirmed operation.
Can I connect with the current Windows login?
Yes, when the selected protocol and target policy support integrated Windows authentication.
